On the Job Problems
Almost everyone runs into some kind of problem on the job at some point in time. Whether it is a poor performance evaluation, a missing paycheck, failure to pay overtime, or conflicts with other employees. The structure of government employment is different that that of private enterprise - it can sometimes be difficult to navigate through the red tape. The WCEA is here to assist you if you need it. Should a situation arise that requires a formal grievance or hearing, WCEA professional representatives will assist you. WCEA's staff will answer your questions and every effort will be made to assist you in a confidential and professional manner
Democracy in Action
WCEA members elect the Board of Directors who oversees the management of the organization. Any member may run for a WCEA office. Members participate on committees, social affairs, and negotiations. Participation on the WCEA Board has provided a base of experience for many local leaders.
Public Relations
All too often, public employees come under the scrutiny from the very public they serve. WCEA is active in the Whittier community. We educate the public about our contribution and uphold the positive image of the Whittier City Employee Association.
What is an Agency Shop?
All classified, permanent, and non-sworn City employees are required to pay an agency fee to WCEA equal to one half-hours pay on a bi-weekly basis. There are no initiation or service fees and your dues may be tax deductible. There is an option for non-membership, which excludes the benefits above.
